Hope everyone has some real nice trips planned. I'm sure the high gas prices will shorten some trips. So what do you plan on doing this summer? We have a nice treat in store this summmer, our good friends Darren and Tully are going to be here in early August, we plan on taking them on a rock tour of Oregon. We will probably be hitting Maury Mt., Glass Buttes, Richardson's rock ranch, a secret jasper location or two, and a few undecided locations also. Glass Buttes is always fun, but isolated and HOT in the summer. For those who have never been, it is a mountain or two of Obsidian, many, many types, Mahogany, Midnight Lace, Rainbow, peacock,, gold sheen, silver sheen, etc, etc! But if you go there, remember you will be very isolated, (no fast marts near). So, you must prepare yourself, your tools and your vehicle. It is a set aside by the BLM for rock hounds, there are a few claims in the area so be sure not to violate these. Check with the BLM for the latest info on the area.
